


Kākā Wing Feather in Rimu 42cm
The kākā is a large, forest dwelling parrot native to New Zealand they are most common in areas free from mammalian predators and where there is suitable habitat. In common with other parrot species the kaka is intelligent, curious and social. They may be recognised in the forest by their call of ‘ka-aa’ and noted for their acrobatic skills. They are predominantly olive-brown in colour with red-orange and crimson patterning under their wings and body.
This carved rimu kākā wing feather measures 42 × 8 × 2cm, and is painted in acrylics. Iridescent green has been applied to replicate the sheen found on the primary wing feathers. Piece fitted with a tri-ring for easy hanging vertically.
Not recommended for display outside, in full sun or near heat. May be dusted with soft cloth when necessary. Finished with a beeswax polish.
