The kererū, or native wood pigeon, is one of New Zealand’s most treasured birds. They are large, rotund birds that may be found in the foliage of large trees around Aotearoa including in the back yards of Kiwi homes. The feathers of the kererū range in colours including white, grey, brown, green and purple. This kererū tail feather is dark brown with hints of subtle purple-green iridescence.

This feather has been carved in native rimu wood, painted in acrylics and finished with a beeswax polish. It measures 37 × 8 x 1cm and is fitted with a tri-ring for easy hanging indoors.
