The native wood pigeon of kererū is a large, rotund bird with captivating multi-coloured iridescent feathers. This carving has been modelled from a moulted feather found close to my studio. It is a lesser wing feather and is iridescent green-purple in colour. Iridescent colour changes with the light of the day and the seasons.
Feather , carved in matai, measures 44 x 8 x 1cm and is fitted with a tri-ring for easy hanging indoors. Best displayed away from direct heat or sun, use a soft cloth to dust.
