This individually hand carved and painted tūī tail feather has been crafted in salvaged matai and painted in many fine layers to create a lacquer effect. I have attempted to capture the beauty of the iridescent blue-green-black sheen characteristic of the tūī.
The measurements for this carving are 48 x 8 × 2cm, a tri-ring is fitted on the back for easy hanging. Piece not suitable for display outdoors, in full sun or near heat. Use a soft cloth to dust when necessary. Finished in a beeswax polish.
