This individually hand crafted and painted tūī tail feather has been intricately carved in salvaged matai timber and painted in many layers of acrylic to create a lacquer effect. I have attempted to capture the beauty of the iridescent blue-green-black sheen characteristic of the tūī.
The measurements for this carving are 38 × 9 × 2cm, a tri-ring is fitted on the back for easy hanging. Piece not suitable for display outdoors, in full sun or near heat. Use a soft cloth to dust when necessary.
